Q. What is Mis-take™?

Mis-take™ is an emergency contraceptive product that prevents the starting of a pregnancy. Which is also a component of some contraceptive pills. The amount of hormone in one Mis-take™ tablet corresponds to that gained from a month’s dose of minpills.

Q. What is Mis-take™ used for?

The product is used when condom use or other contraceptive failed or there is no contraceptive has been used during intercourse. If pregnancy is already started or starts in spites of emergency contraception. Mis-take™ does not harm the fetus. Mis-take™ is not an abortion pill.

Q. Who can take Mis-take™?

The product can be used by women from 18 years of age up to menopause with certain limitations. Who can not use mis-take? Do not take Mis-take™ if you have severe lever disease or if you are allergic to the product. If you have lever disease, cardiac disease increased risk of blood clotting or extra uterine pregnancy or inflammatory bowel disease, contact your doctor to assess an effect of mis-take.

Q. How is Mis-take™ used?

The first tablet is taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse, and second tablet 12- 24 hours after first tablet. The product does not have much contraceptive effect if the first tablet taken as late as three days after intercourse.

Q. Is Mis-take™ safe?

When used as directed, Mis-take™ is safe for most women. There have been no serious complications associated with Mis-take™. Common side effect includes nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, headache, and menstrual changes.

Q How important is the timing of treatment to efficacy?

The sooner Mis-take™ is taken after intercourse, the more effective it is. Effectiveness of Plan-B is declines as the interval between intercourse and the start of treatment increases. The decline in efficacy from a delay in treatment is why a broad range of health professionals believe that barriers to more timely access to Mis-take™ should be removed. Including making the product available without prescription.

Q. How does Mis-take™ work?

Mis-take™ is believed to act as an emergency contraceptive principally by preventing ovulation of fertilization. (By altering tubal transport of sperm and or ova). In addition it may inhibit implantation by altering the endometrium. Mis-take ™ is not effective if woman is pregnant. Mis-take is contraceptive and can not terminate and established pregnancy.

Q. How effective is Mis-take™?

The efficacy of the product is better, the earlier it’s taken. If the first tablet is taken within 12 hours of unprotected intercourse, pregnancy probability is 0.5%.If use of emergency contraceptive started after 48 hours of intercourse, pregnancy probability is approximately 3 %.

Q.  Will Mis-take™ harm an unborn fetus?

There is no evidence that Mis-take™ would harm to pregnant woman or to a developing fetus if the product were accidentally taken during early pregnancy. Studies involving women who have inadvertently taken combined oral contraceptives containing levonorgestrel during early pregnancy suggests that this drug has no adverse effect on fetus.

Q. Is Mis-take™ same as RU486 (Abortion pills)?

No, Mis-take™ is not same as an abortifacient. It is an emergency contraceptive and should not be confused with RU486 or any other abortifacient. Plan B is not effective if woman is pregnant.

Q. Is there any need of Pregnancy test after taking Mis-take™?

Although if taken within 12 hours of unprotected intercourse, pregnancy possibility is 0.5% but still its safer to undergo pregnancy test in case of unprotected intercourse.
